We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the Greenway Ag Service Technician Apprenticeship Program. This Program is a tool for hiring driven candidates with little-to-no ag equipment service experience, and it is designed to grow our own technicians by offering a pathway to a rewarding career through extensive on-the-job and classroom training. This milestone achievement is the culmination of collaborative efforts between Greenway Equipment, Inc., ASU Newport, the Arkansas Office of Skills Development, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Greenway Ag Service Technician Apprenticeship Program is an 18-month, comprehensive initiative designed to equip selected full-time employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. Participants will have the opportunity to work as a salaried technician at their local Greenway Equipment location under the guidance of a seasoned Journey Worker who serves as their Mentor. Additionally, apprentices will engage in both in-person and online training sessions conducted by Greenway, along with virtual classes offered by ASU Newport. Apprentices will receive compensation for time-worked in Greenway Equipment service shops, which includes full-time benefits, but will not receive compensation for time in class.
Successful completion of the program requires the candidate to complete the required apprenticeship learning checkpoints, complete 45 hours of online Workplace Essentials Training from ASU Newport and become a Level 3 John Deere Certified Technician. Upon completion of the program, Greenway Equipment and the U.S. Department of Labor will award each Apprentice with a plaque and a Certificate of Completion that is recognized nationwide.
Our inaugural Apprenticeship Class is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 3, 2024. Applications for both employment and enrollment in the apprenticeship program are open until May 15, 2024.
