Here at Greenway Equipment, we deeply value our team and consider every employee to be an important member of the Greenway family. This month, we want to recognize parts salesman Frank Monroe.

Frank has worked in parts departments since 1972, where he started with Ag Co in Minneapolis. Life led him back to Dewitt in ‘87, where he’s worked ever since. When the dealership took on the Greenway name in 2015, Frank stayed on.

Being in the industry for so long has given Frank some incredible perspective.  While things have certainly changed over time—he mentioned going from a library-card-style inventory system to one built and managed digitally—there are some things that never change. And that’s the people. Frank said his favorite thing about working in the parts department and working with John Deere parts was the customers. Getting to help people with problems that need solving is what has kept him in the job and why he keeps coming back to it.

When asked what advice he would give to a new team member or someone just entering the industry, Frank said to “be respectful, treat other people the way you want to be treated”. He said it’s important to remember that when people come to you, they often have a very serious problem that needs an immediate resolution, and it’s important to remember that it can be a very stressful experience for them. You have to respect that and treat them the way you would hope to be treated in that situation.

Frank’s commitment to treat his customers well is why he is so good at his job and so well-liked in the Dewitt area. After more than 45 years on the job, Frank said that while retirement has crossed his mind, he really enjoys work too much to commit to the idea just yet.
