So you’ve got a small operation, just bought a few acres of land, or decided you want to get into baling hay. But where to start? Luckily, we’ve got the setup for you. There are certainly a variety of different tractors and balers out there to choose from and you can easily get lost in the weeds. But if you’re looking for a great place to start, and then build out from there, then here’s what you’re going to want.
5075E Tractor
The John Deere 5075E is a robust, highly capable tractor designed to bring all the power and capabilities of a large tractor to any operation. You’ll need 73 horsepower and 61 PTO horsepower to drive your baler. You’ll also want to pick up the optional cab, to keep yourself comfortable and protected from the dust and weather as well as cut down drastically on the noise and vibration. It even has climate control, so you can blast the AC while you work, allowing you to concentrate on your work without having to worry about overheating. You’ll also get to take advantage of the available PowrReverser transmission, which makes switching directions a breeze.
450E Baler
The 450e baler from John Deere pairs perfectly with the 5075E, providing top-level baling performance. You’ll get the DiamondTough belts, with a triple weave design that maintains toughness. The diamond pattern allows it to handle crop gently to maintain quality while remaining resistant to tears and punctures. And with the in-cab monitor screen, you’ll be able to keep an eye on your bale progress as you go and make adjustments on the go to maintain bale packing quality.
When you’re looking for a straightforward, no-nonsense hay baling package, this is the one for you. Bale hay well and stay cool while you do it!
